Adopt me: Teddy

Teddy 09-58

Adopted by: Jim, Peg and Ann

In my wildest dreams I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect home to be mine forever. Jim, Peg and Ann, their daughter, have taken me into their home. I was fostered by Kimberly for about 2 weeks. I loved playing with Tess and Abby, her Goldens. It was a whole new world for me. And now I am in another world with lots of love and attention. Peg takes me for runs, which I really love! I am learning to climb stairs, and actually sprained my ankle the first time I tried them, but it will be okay. Ted is home with me all day as he works from home, so I get a lot of attention. I have the roam of the house all day and this new experience of so much freedom is wonderful! Thank you, Jim, Peg and Ann for taking me home forever!

Adopt me: Daisy

Daisy 09-51

Adopted by: Ted and Patty

“Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do…” My answer was a resounding YES when Ted and Patty wanted to take me home with them for their own. Ted is retired and spends lots of time with me. I love jumping in his lap, and he just laughs! We walk for about an hour every day. Ted and I are going to start an obedience class at the end of the month – he seems to think I shouldn’t jump up on people! Huh! But I am quickly becoming Daddy’s little girl and I will do anything to please him! I couldn’t have been luckier than to have great foster parents in Scott and Kelly, except to end up in my forever home with Ted and Patty!

Adopt me: Gracie

Gracie 09-37

Adopted by: Mike and Shannon, Mara & Krieger

GRRIN is very lucky to have families that are willing to give a forever home to senior Goldens. Mike and Shannon were already waiting to adopt a senior girl - Gracie was only in foster care for a few weeks! Here’s their story:

From the time Mike and I started the adoption process with GRINN, we said we wanted to adopt a Golden Oldie. Krieger’s nine and an independent dog. Mara’s four and has always been the ‘baby’ of the family, we thought a puppy might ruin her spirit. We thought she’d like an older sister and playmate. Plus dogs live very good at our house and we thought we could offer a Golden Oldie a lot of love the remaining years of their life. We were so excited to hear about Gracie. We were told she was ten years old with the mind-set of a five year old. And they were right. I’m still amazed that she’s ten years old.

We’ve had Gracie in our family a couple months now, since October 10. She has been such a fun addition. She loves to play ball-ball with Mara. I love watching her gallop and jump around when she’s playing around in the back yard. And the snow…she loves it. She digs her nose into the snow and throws it back on herself. She goes on our long walks with Mara and I. I’m amazed every day that she’s ten years old. We also discovered that she loves Halloween. She (and the other dogs) went with me back to my mom’s for Halloween. I took Mara and Kuggie walking with me and the twins trick-or-treating….Gracie stayed at home with my mom to hand out candy. Mom said she was up for every trick-or-treater. She loved all the kids and the pets she received from each them. Mom said some of the kids enjoyed Gracie more than the candy. She just LOVES kids. And is SO good with them.”

Many families can’t adopt a large dog but want to help GRRIN. GRRIN currently fosters three senior dogs, including a hospice dog, Casper, who is no longer healthy enough to adjust to a new home. You can sponsor a senior Golden’s monthly vet bills by contacting us at info@grrin.org or making a donation here: http://www.grrin.org/how-you-can-help/donate-to-grrin/

Adopt me: Gunner

Gunner 09-42

Adopted by: Jill and Tanner and Jaxon

Gunner was surrendered by a family who could no longer afford to take care of him. He needed his shots and a good teeth cleaning. At first it was though that Gunner had chronic ear infections, but the vet found a polyp in his ear and once that was removed he no longer had ear problems. He is a gentle, loving dog who cuddles up to anything and anyone. He was fostered by Ron and Marilyn and their Golden, Jake. Gunner was adopted by his forever family Jill and Tanner and is getting along famously with the resident dog, Jaxon. He loves his walks and to jump on the bed with Jill. He does have his own doggy bed and is doing well and is the perfect gentleman.

Adopt me: Diddle aka Cooper

Diddle aka Cooper 09-38

Adopted by: Randy, Lisa and Jake

Hello! Although you might have known me as Diddle, with my new home I got a new name… Cooper! Great name, right? Let me tell you what, my family is just what I needed. Lisa and Randy, my new parents, just adore me. I have new toys everywhere and we go on walks and play fetch all of the time. The best news is that I have a great pal to run around with, Jake (thats him on the right), and two very patient cat sisters to sniff out. We are one big, happy family and I think I am so lucky!

Adopt me: Jack

Jack 09-43

Adopted by: Mike, Susan, Hannah, Caitlin, Sean and Sammie

My name is Jack. I had heard rumors that life with humans was good, but take it from me, it absolutely ROCKS! My first two years were spent chained outside, and I was pretty lonely…except when I managed to escape and run the streets! After numerous run-ins with the law, some good people decided that I’d had enough paroles and placed me into the GRRIN Protection Program. I started my journey at the home of Bruce and Rebecca. I met their Goldens Jazz and Dexter, and it was PARTY TIME! Well, for a little while…because before I realized it I had structure along with my exercise. Imagine that! My foster parents told me that I’m very smart, so I quickly realized what was expected of me. Lots of praise and affection didn’t hurt, either. One day I met Mike and Susan and their family. These were great humans, too! It wasn’t long before they asked me to be a part of their family. All I had to do was get the approval of their Golden, Sammie. No worries – I just reached into my bag of charm, and put my best paw forward. At first she played it cool, but then I won her over! Woo Hoo! I’m now part of the family – Mike, Susan, Hannah, Caitlin, Sean, Sammie, and Jack! The rumors were true! Life is good!

Adopt me: Sophie

Sophie 09-36

Adopted by: Michael and Jean

Hi, I’m Sophie! My new mom says I could be the poster child for GRRIN’s requirement that dogs live in the house as part of the family. In my first home I was kept outdoors, where I was so lonely that I developed some bad habits like jumping up and mouthing people. I just wanted someone to pay attention to me, but my owners didn’t want me anymore because of these behaviors. GRRIN took me in, and Jean and Mike took one look and fell in love with me! I’m a devoted lap dog, and I’m completely happy when I’m snuggling with my new family! There are two other GRRIN dogs in my new home, Molly and Walter, and they play with me. We go for walks every day, and sometimes I go to doggie daycare with Walter. My mom says I bark like a squeak toy and it’s embarrassing, but she thinks it’s funny when I howl at sirens. I’m glad GRRIN found me a family that lets me know I am loved!

Adopt me: Mackensie aka Maggie

Mackensie aka Maggie 09-40

Adopted by: Mike and Carolyn

I’m Maggie (formerly Mackenzie) and I’m finally getting to tell my story! I was adopted on October 1st after being fostered by Terry and his two dog buddies, Maggie and Harley. I got to play all the time at Terry’s, and the older dogs made sure I minded my manners and learned the house rules. I was ready for my new home in no time - I’m pretty smart for an eight month old. Mike and Carolyn met me and then I got to meet their two little resident canines. We all got along but it doesn’t matter too much because I get to hang out with Mike (he’s in the picture with me) at work all day. That means I get to ride in the car a lot and play with two other black Labs that go to work at Mike’s shop. Even though I had to leave my first family, I’m very happy where I am now - thanks to the people in GRRIN for taking such great care of me!

Adopt me: Dakota

Dakota 09-49

Adopted by: John, Kelly, Thomas and Christian

I made it! Yeah! I am in my forever home and just tickled pink! (Can a big boy like me be pink?) Anyway, I have great parents in Kelley and John and two brothers, Thomas and Christian. It was Thomas’ idea to adopt me, and I just know we will be the best of buds! Christian is only 2, so we will have some growing up to do together. I have a great yard to run around in, and based on all the walking we have been doing, a great neighborhood also. I did take myself for a brief tour of the neighbors’ yards a few days ago, but after about 15 minutes, I came home to John. I miss my awesome foster mom, Kimberly and my other two Golden buddies, so I hope I will get to meet other neighborhood dogs or have some play dates. Meanwhile, I am content hangin’ with my new family! Yes, I am perfectly happy!09-49

Adopt me: Farley aka Murphy

Farley aka Murphy 09-45

Adopted by: Mike and Erin

Hi! I’m Murphy and I came to GRRIN all the way from Kansas. I was a stray out in the country and Bob kept me for a while, but he decided I need a full-time family, so he drove me to Nebraska for a second chance. My foster home was great! Have you heard of my foster dad, Terry, and his two dogs, Maggie & Harley? Well, they know how to put a youngster like me in my place but it still didn’t keep me from bouncing around all the time. In fact, Terry nicknamed me “Tigger”! When I met Erin and Mike I knew I had to live with them and their other dog, Cooper. He can really keep up with me at playtime. Erin and Mike know how to handle a busy guy like me. Here are some important updates that Erin wrote about me:
-He’s been very quick to learn the house rules - he even waits his turn
at breakfast and dinner time
-Loves to play WWF with his new brother, Cooper the lab,
every chance he gets
-ALWAYS at our side - even if his brother wants to play in the yard
-Just started at daycare and he LOVES it - and so do his new parents
because it wears the puppy out of him for the night!

It looks like I won’t get away with much except having fun with Cooper, although maybe first I need to get through the holidays…turkey, ham, pie, wrapping paper, Christmas trees? It’s a great world out there for a dog like me!
