"Buddy" #04-01 ~
Surrendered
at 5 yrs, because of his
owners' separation, is an
all around great dog, lively,
fun, loves everyone,
and knows basic obedience
commands. He was fostered
by Aaron & Kami, who soon
found that he was wonderful
with their little boy, Hayden.
Before long he was also very
bonded to their first GR,
Maddie. Buddy & Maddie
snuggle together for naps
and are overjoyed to see
one another after even very
short separations. Kami &
Aaron decided that Buddy
belongs with their family and
they have adopted him!

"Maia" #04-02 ~
Found as a stray at
Christmas time She was
underweight & her paws
cracked & sore. Her
Good Samaritan, had
nursed her and provided
vet care for her before
turning her over to GRRIN.
She was estimated to be
10 mo. old. Rich & Laura
R. had lost their first
cherished GRRIN dog,
& took Maia home with
them, and soon found that
she fit in as if they'd always
had her. She has beautiful
manners, loves running &
outdoor activities with her
new family!

"Riley" #04-03 ~
Murphy was found on a farm
as a stray, estimated age 16
weeks in January, and entered
the GRRIN program through
a Good Samaritan. He was
fostered by Bill & Micki and
enjoyed learning appropriate
manners, housebreaking, and
play with their Golden family
of Lobo, Reannan, Wing and
Amy. He has great dexterity
with his paws and "Riley" as
he is now known, found his
Forever Home in March with
the W. family where he
plays with new dog buddies and
makes his new mom and dad
laugh at his puppy antics.
|
"Edward" #04-04 ~
Twelve year old Edward was
surrendered when his lifetime
owner moved to Europe leaving
him behind. He began foster
care with Randy & Jean S. the
last part of January. This dis-
tinquished fella is a perfect
gentleman, yet very active and
alert! He especially loves to be
"close", soaking up lots of love,
and being stroked until falling asleep,
and it wasn't long before Randy
& Jean realized that Edward
WAS in his Forever Home.
|
"Pooh Bear" #04-06 ~
5 month old Buddy came to
GRRIN after being turned in
to his breeder by a family that
had hoped he would make a
good hunting dog. They weren't
prepared for the pups sociability.
He entered foster care with
Jennifer W., whose family fell in
love with the now "Pooh Bear"
at once and decided to adopt
him. He is a fluffy blonde boy
living the Good Life with his new
found young family!
|
"Augie" #04-08 ~
Augie was found as a stray during
the early February snowstorms.
He was very scared, depressed and
underweight in a local shelter. He
was surrendered to GRRIN because the
staff felt he would do better in a private
foster home. Julie W. became the foster
family for Augie. He has blossomed into
the perfect dog, he is gentle, sweet, and
loves attention. He plays with Julie's two
dogs, and has no bad habits whatsoever.
He met his forever family recently and
it was love all of the way around!
LouAnn and Ron plan to adopt
a "friend" for Augie at some point in
the near future, and in the meantime,
Augie is secure and loved in his new
home!
|
"Koko" #04-09 ~
Koko is an 11-12 month old female
who has already had two homes in her
young life. Her most recent family had a
new baby and could not do justice to the
needs of a young and energetic dog. Koko
was fostered by Heather and Grant, their
two children and their young Lab and more
sedate Springer. She was playing with the
resident dogs within minutes after entering
foster care. She is a happy, healthy, very
intelligent girl. Koko found her forever
home with Mary M. where she has a
Golden buddy "Luke". Both dogs get
along great and she blended with her new
family in short order. She loves going on
walks in the park and also riding in the car!
|
"Lucky" #98-18 ~
6 yr old "Lucky" was adopted
through GRRIN back in 1998 when
she was only one year old. After 5
years she was turned back in to GRRIN.
Upon re-entering Rescue, it became
apparent that she was returned because
they no longer wanted the responsibility
of pet ownership. Lucky was 88 lbs.,
about 20 lbs. overweight; her lovely
blonde coat was covered in mats and
her nails were so long they had begun
to curl back towards her pads. Her
extra weight and nail condition made it
very uncomfortable for her to walk and
play like a normal Golden. Lucky
entered foster care with Cathy & Paul
who groomed her and put her on a RX
diet that helped her lose extra weight
and showered her with attention for
four months of foster care!
She has a medical condition called
Masticatory Myositis, an auto immune
disorder that affects the chewing muscles.
It is kept under control with an in-
expensive regimen of Prednisone. Lucky's
wonderful affectionate personality won
the hearts of the S. Family, who
adopted her after losing their own beloved
Golden. She is now in a home where she
is the center of attention and gets all the
love and care she deserves!

"Kelsey" #03-53 ~
Kelsey entered GRRIN when her
owner could no longer afford to
keep her. She was well-loved in
her original home, and her owner
worked very closely with GRRIN
to see that there would be proper
preparation for Kelsey's thyroid and
seizure conditions. Kelsey made a
smooth transition into foster care
thanks to the warm welcome she
received with Rick & Debbie T.
Her medical conditions were
controlled and her only remaining
need was continued weight loss.
Fortunately, Joe M. was
searching for a walking companion
who could also be a part of his
social activities. Joe and Kelsey
are walking several times a day,
he describes her as "perfect" in
all that comes her way whether
greeting guests or playing with
children and other dogs, or being
well mannered with cats!
Joe reports that
Kelsey has been seizure free
and is now sporting an actual
waistline thanks to all those long
walks and her stamina has
greatly improved!

"Snickers" # 03-30~
Snickers was found as a stray
and came into the GRRIN program
via a shelter. He was estimated to
be between 8 and 10 yrs. old.
Initially Snickers was heart worm
positive, but he is healthy now, and
a very well behaved, outgoing and
friendly boy. He loves to carry his
tennis balls around, snuggle on the
couch and sing his Golden "Woo-Woo"
songs. He has been adopted by
long-time GRRIN volunteers Nancy
and Helen. Snickers has problems
with his hips, but Nancy bought a
ramp so he can get into the car, as
he absolutely loves car rides. He
is now able to walk around the block
before his hips start bothering him, and
Nancy says he is a wonderful companion
and gets along well with his new "brother"
Thunder!

"Cheyenne" # 03-42 ~
Cheyenne is a beautiful, energetic girl
with a glossy red coat. She was turned
in to GRRIN when her owners realized
that as an active young puppy, she needed
more time and attention than they could
give her. Rick & Toni M. along with
their daughters Jessica, Elizabeth, and
Allison, had adopted their first GRRIN
dog, Duchess, in January 2003.
Rick & Toni decided that fostering
for GRRIN would be a great way to
help another GRRIN dog. They
welcomed Cheyenne into their home.
Cheyenne proved to be a challenge,
as she chewed her way through the
household! But her sad brown eyes, won
forgiveness every time, and the family
persevered. Her behavior did improve,
she became fast friends with Duchess,
and they play and snuggle all day long!
When Cheyenne is getting into mischief,
Duchess will alert the family by grinning
and sneezing repeatedly. The family
decided that they couldn't part with
Cheyenne and they have
adopted Cheyenne as well!

"Dreyfus" # 03-47 ~
Dreyfus, 7 years old, was
surrendered to GRRIN when
his owners no longer had time to
give him the attention he needed.
Jeff & Tori R. fostered Dreyfus
with help from their two children.
They soon found the Dreyfus is
very friendly, affectionate, an playful.
He loves swimming, playing fetch, and
going for rides in the car. He knows
many tricks including "speak" and
"little speak", which is a doggie whisper!
Susan D. had lost her beloved dog
Copper in the fall of 2003, and was
looking for another dog to love. When
she met Dreyfus she knew right away
that he was the dog for her. He loves
to snuggle with her,and has all kinds
of funny little habits. He likes to help
out when Susan is shoveling snow, and
day when he thought snow removal
might be a fun project, he brought Susan
one of her boots as a not-so-subtle hint.
When her mother visited, Dreyfus
generously left one of his tennis balls in
her suitcase. Susan says everyone
who meets Dreyfus just loves him!

"Buddy" #03-45 ~
Six year old Bubba was a nervous
dog that was a habitual fence jumper
when he came into the GRRIN program.
Who could blame him for being nervous
since he had been in three different homes
and had lived with 7 new dogs within
one week's time. Ted & Marilyn M.
became his foster family, and Bubba
wouldn't go outside or eat without
one or the other being with him. Both
Ted & Marilyn saw his true personality
and adored him from the first moment,
and of course they decided to share their
home with him permanently! Since coming
to live with them, Bubba, now known as
"Buddy" has been transformed into a
confident and relaxed boy. He has
beautiful manners, doesn't bark at the
door or beg at the table. He gets along
wonderfully with the other family Goldens,
Bear and Chandler, and will play tug-of-war
with them. The family cats are also becoming
more comfortable with Buddy. He enjoys
his daily walks tremendously, and loves
to "point" when he sees squirrels on
the power lines above! He enjoys helping
Ted while he works on the computer, by
sitting with his head in his lap, nudging until
he gets stroked, a true Golden trait!
|
"Sam" #03-49 ~
Two year old Sam was surrendered
mainly due to lack of time, but the
original family didn't seem to bond to
the dog. He came into GRRIN at 103
lbs. He entered foster care with Rob
& Nickki M. and had no trouble
adjusting to his new environment. He
had their two beautiful Huskies to play
with constantly, and also cats which he
was a little too curious about. They
discovered he was very intelligent, loving
and just a happy dog in general. Sandi
and Bob B. recently had lost their Golden
"Sunny" who was also a GRRIN dog.
They fell in love with Sam and were
anxious to get him home for good.
Their other Golden "Sophie" (who
thinks she is a princess) is learning to
adjust and share her attention with
Sam. Sandi & Bob feel fortunate
to have adopted another dog from
GRRIN.
|
"Samson" #03-50 ~
One year old Samson was given
up by his previous owners because
they felt he was aggressive, not
housebroken, and rowdy. Several
GRRIN volunteers assessed Samson,
and found him rowdy, energetic, but
not aggressive. Basically he needed
obedience training to help him learn
his manners. He was fostered by Tony
& Suzanne O. who took him to classes,
and he improved quickly with their hard
work and devotion. They had to do
a lot of training in hopes to reverse his
early negative experiences. He has
been adopted by the O. family
who love him, and realize how
different a young dog is compared to
their older GRRIN dog Duke that they
recently lost. Kaye said in a short time,
her house will be spotless since Samson
has a bad habit of eating anything in
sight, with paper being his favorite treat!
|
"Britt" #03-51 ~
3 1/2 year old Britt came into Rescue
because the resident dog she was living
with was attacking her, and her owners
surrendered her to GRRIN for her safety.
She entered foster care with Ron & Tammy.
After a few weeks, they discovered what
a wonderful girl she is and they decided to
adopt her. Her new family includes two
teenagers, 15 year old Nina, 18 year old
Nate, and two Bischon Frise' "Boone" and
"Bitzy". Britt is very intelligent and entertains
her family with her many tricks such as shake,
hop backwards, sit pretty, and she can even
do puppy push-ups. Ron says Britt's most
favorite thing in the world is her beloved
tennis balls and can "doggie dribble" her
tennis balls. She drops and catches it over
and over on the kitchen floor. She would
prefer to play a rousing game of fetch with
her new family, and she is enjoying much
love there!
|
"Max" # 03-52`~
One year old Max was surrendered to
GRRIN when his owners realized he
needed more time and attention that they
could give him. They had been keeping
him outside or in a small storage space in
their basement, and Max was very lonely.
In foster care with Fran and Chuck K.,
Max thrived! He loves attention and
petting, and was very eager to please. He
quickly learned some obedience commands
and he loved playing with Bailey, the resident
Golden. Joan & Keith N. were hoping to
adopt a dog that would be good with their
four kids and their cat, and Max was the
perfect fit. Max loves wrestling and playing
Frisbee with the sons, Jeff, Nathan and Tyler.
Daughter Beth looks forward to coming
home from college on weekends to spend
time with Max as well, and Jeff has been
taking Max to obedience school and they
are doing well. Max loves to play outdoors,
and even caught a squirrel one day, though
he immediately let it go.
|
"Chloe" # 94-28 ~
10 year old Chloe has lots
of pep and personality. She
came from a very loving home
and entered foster care
with Jennifer W. when her
owner moved into an assisted
living center. Chloe transitioned
easily into the foster home and
has made the most of her new
friends and activities. She adores
children of all ages and spends
every available minute with them.
Chloe was adopted by Shawna
and Jake K. and their children.
She is learning to play with the
resident Yorkshire Terrier, and
learning not to use him as a
"squeeky toy". Instead they
enjoy curling up together!
